Image File Formats and More

Raster File Formats: JPG/JPEG:  Short for Joint Photographic Experts Group, is one of the most widely used image formats worldwide across Websites and social media. Has lossy compression meaning the image quality is somewhat degraded and lacks support for transparency. PNG:  Short for Portable Network Graphics, is another widely used image format. Unlike JPEG, this is a lossless compression format meaning that most of the image quality is not degraded. GIF:  Short for Graphics Interchange Format, Is notable for supporting animated images to be played in a sequential format. The drawback of this file format is that it only supports up to 256 colors which by today's standards isn't great. Nowadays it's commonly used for memes and other funny images. BMP:  Short for Windows BitMaP, is an uncompressed raster file format capable of storing high-quality image data in a single file and can be transferred across other Windows PCs and be viewed without losing quality. The drawback o

300ppi VS 72ppi Resolution

1. What is the difference between 300ppi and 72ppi? The difference between 300PPI and 72PPI is that 300PPI is higher resolution, You are cramming more pixels into an inch. Hence the PPI which means Pixels Per Inch 2. Why is that important for the graphic designer doing print projects? It's important for Graphic Designers as when you try to increase the size of a 72PPI to fit the layout of a magazine or poster, It looks like a pixelated mess which hurts to look at. Whereas if you try to resize a 300PPI it won't look that bad, Sure it will start to look a little pixelated but it would still be pleasant to look at. Well, there might be a situation where 300PPI is too big for your project layout so you can decrease the size and it would still look great overall. 3. Why is that important for the web designer doing websites?  It's equally important for Web Designers, But you also have to be careful, if you insert an image that's too big such as a 1000PPI image your Website wi

Logo Final Tweaks Reflection

Image
For my logo tweaks, I decided to play around with the layout of the wordmark and the Tracking in some of the designs. For the colors of my designs, I used the colors of the flags of Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines as an inspiration because this airline is supposed to offer somewhat cheap flights in Southeast Asia, it made sense to use the colors of these flags. Surprisingly, I made 15 + 5 decent designs using the same typeface, Berthold  Akzidenz-Grotesk. I know it's shocking especially because I too didn't think I wouldn't need to switch over to a different typeface like Gotham or Frutiger for my designs.

Picasso's Jacqueline avec Fleurs in Photoshop Reflection

Image
Honestly doing this work was so frustrating especially considering the amount of detail the shirt and skirts the Picasso Painting had, I didn't really use that many brushes, I only used the same brush except I would occasionally change the size of it. Just like the Self Portrait assignment, I wasn't able to finish this as you can see.  But anyways... Jacqueline avec Fleurs or Jacqueline with Flowers was a painting made by Pablo Picasso in the year 1954, The reason why Picasso drew this was to celebrate his newfound love companion who was named Jacqueline Roque. However, the problem was that at the time, Picasso was already married with a woman named Olga Koklova so he couldn't marry Jacqueline until Olga died 11 years later in 1955. Picasso drew her with flowers because that's what he brought Jacqueline when they met at a potttery in 1953 along with a dove he painted for her.
