Portrait in Type Reflection

Image
Work overlayed onto the original image Work For this project I decided to use a picture of somewhat famous Roblox YouTuber "Flamingo", Honestly it was quite difficult to do the Mouth and Hair (despite him wearing a cap in the image), I tried to minimize distortion although flipping the text horizontally may count as distortion. I attempted to use more characters other than J  I  and Parenthesis "( )", but in the end that's what I mostly ended up using, I did however use Gs and Cs for the nose so that should make it a little less bland.

Society of Illustrators at 128 East 63rd Street, Lexington Avenue, New York, New York, NY 10065 Trip Reflection

Image
To summarize, my experience in the trip was great. especially in the Character Design workshop where we learned how to fold and make a zine (pronounced zeen) which is a small book consisting of 8 pages (including the cover), also we learned how to make character turn arounds which involves drawing a sort of target on which ever part of the face depending on the position of your character and then you draw the eyes and the rest of the face.  This is what the Zines look like This is what I meant by "character turnarounds" and "targets" Anyways moving on from the Character Design I took a pic of some designs that really caught my interest (about 14 but i will only show 2 because why not) The text is sort of unreadable because the original image was blurry. I tried using the unblur feature my phone had and its still quite unreadable. If you still cant read this, it says: Medium: Ink crayon, handmade stamps, paper collage. digital Imprint: Alfred A. Analog & Digital Color

1. What are pixels?     Pixels are the small dots/squares that make the display on a screen 2. How is color viewed on Computer Monitors?      Colors are viewed on Computer Monitors and basically every electronic by using RGB (Red, Green, Blue) values 3.  What is the additive color space?      Additive color space is light created by mixing various Red Green and Blue values 4.  Describe which additive color sliders values in InDesign you would use to make white and black.      To make Black you would need to set all the values (that's the Red, Green, and Blue) to 0, To make White you would need to set all the values to 255. ] 5.  What is the subtractive color space?     Subtractive color space is the pigments (Print/Ink) created by mixing various CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and BlacK) values. 6.  Describe which additive color sliders values in InDesign you would use to make white and black.      To make Black you would need to set all the values (that's the Cyan, Magenta, Yell

TikTok Marketing reflection

For the TikTok Marketing presentation, I learned that when making an ad for the app you should:  1. Make it organic, in other words, make it look like the other generic TikToks that you see on the app so that the viewer can somewhat be hooked into watching the whole thing, and may also consider trying out whatever you're trying to advertise. Use basic elements that the app gives you by default such as the text-to-speech voice, captions, and visual effects. 2. You don't really need a big budget to make a successful TikTok, not just in advertisements but in general as most people just use whatever things they have at home or buy something at their local 99 cents store and utilize some visual effects that the app offers to make it seem cool. 3. You should hop onto a trend that doesn't involve a specific song or gimmick, make sure it has some longevity. In order to check this you can use the filters in the search feature on TikTok in order to find if a trend has died out or i

6 columns on 2 page spread reflection

Image
So for this 2-page spread project I originally struggled on what images I should choose to wrap the text around but eventually I decided on doing a sort of mid 80s-90s car magazine as all the cars you see here are from that time period. the part i struggled with the most was the wrapping of the text around the images, especially the Porsche 928 (Which is on the very left column) and the Ford Sierra Cosworth (Which is on the 4th column if you're reading from left to right) as I wasn't able to figure out how to get that small chunk of text on top of the cars gone

Hierarchy Design Refelection

Image
(1) NO HIERARCHY (2) CONTRASTING COLOUR (3) CONTRASTING COLOUR (4) ALIGNMENT (5) SPATIAL INTERVALS (6) UPPERCASE AND SPATIAL INTERVALS (7) WEIGHT, COLOUR, SPACE, ALIGNMENT (8) ITALICS, SCALE COLOUR, WEIGHT, ALIGNMENT This assignment was a breeze to get through honestly, The only thing I struggled with was the Alignment parts in the Fourth, Seventh and Eighth Layouts but after playing with the paragraph panel a little I eventually got the hang of it. The font that I used was Helvetica LT Standard because although the computer I used had Helvetica Neue LT Com, the former was a little more accurate to the original layouts found in this PDF.  But anyway, the other 4 layouts were easy to replicate as I previously worked with Line spacing in the Block, Set, Type Assignment.

Gestalt Principles on Grid

Image
Figure Ground Symmetry   Similarity   Proximity  Alright so we are back with doing Gestalt Proximity but we are doing it on grids this time, honestly, I think I put little effort into the work except maybe the second design, for the First design, I did sort of a "yin-yang" design, I have nothing else to say its quite bland. Anyway for the Second design, I clearly did Symmetry, I even went a little further and used the 'gutter space' as Adobe InDesign calls it to write the word "symmetry", I am quite happy with this design myself. For the Third design, I did Similarity where some of the text in the boxes would be bolded and form a T-shape, you could also consider this as Figure-ground. Finally, for the Fourth design, I did proximity where at least 2 grid spaces would space out all of the text boxes.

Expressive Words Reflection

Image
Encircle Jumping Apart Imposters So for the first design I did was "Encircle" where all the letters would encircle nothing... literally just encircling the void. Next up for the second design I did the word jumping where every 2nd character would be jumping up. For the third design I did Apart where all the letters were spaced apart in a rather weird way, you would know this if you checked the "expressivewords3.indd" file. And for the fourth design i did "Imposters" where the "I" was replaced with a "1", "O" being replaced with a zero and the "S"s being replaced with Fives

Gestalt Principles Reflection

Image
Similarity "Figure-Ground" Continuity/Closure Closure & Similarity Closure   To be honest, I don't think I followed any of the Gestalt Principles, but I think I combined some aspects of them in the 5 designs that I cooked up. So for the First design what I did was a Similarity thing, Where you would see a bunch of Uppercase Ws but there's also a sneaky Upside-down M hiding in plain view. The Second design I did was sort of an illusion using Capital Is and Js, with some of them being white, so it's basically positive and negative space. For the Third design, I'm not sure whether I did Continuity or Closure or did both. but basically in this design, you can roughly connect the E with the RWs. The Fourth design I definitely did was Closure and Similarity, where I created the letter "J" with "I"s, a J, and a period (.), The similarity part was typing an actual J and putting it next to the custom "J". The Fifth and last design I di

Block Set Type Reflection

Image
So this simple block-type thing was quite easy to make, First, I typed up the words that were assigned to me in the Helvetica LT STD Condensed, Rockwell, and Georiga fonts. Next, I adjusted the size of the individual words so that it would be close to the margins. Third, I adjusted the leading which can be quite hard to do without using a method/dirty trick. I have utilized a method where you make a small selection box, align it to the bottom of the baseline of a word, and then adjust the leading of the word below it so that the top of the cap height of that word aligns with that selection box.  I found InDesign quite easy to use due to the fact that I've used similar programs before such as paint.net, Inkscape, and Photopea  so most of the shortcuts I already knew before could be applied very easily to InDesign.

Type II by Emmanuel Acevedo

Adobe InDesign by what i could tell from testing the program last spring is usually used for making prints such as Posters, Brochures and Magazines. but what do i think of it?

The Three Letters Reflection

Image
For this drawing I chose the Letters G, J, and S. I drew the S in a Transitional Font (Baskerville), I drew the g in a Slab Serif Font (Rockwell), and finally, I drew the j in a Sans Serif Font (Helvetica). The way I chose these three letters of the English lexicon is quite childish to be honest, I played  eeny meeny miny moe several times to choose random letters when I was doing the initial five out of six sketches I was supposed to do.
